Materials

  • Baking soda

  • White vinegar

  • 2 funnels

  • Small to medium balloons

  • 2 funnels

Directions

  1. Use a funnel to fill one of your bottles 1/3 with vinegar

  2. Use your other funnel to pour baking soda into the balloon. Fill it about 1/2 full

  3. Stretch the opening of the balloon over the opening of the bottle. While you do this, pinch off the balloon opening so that no baking soda escapes into the bottle

  4. Lift the balloon up & watch the balloon inflate

Why this works?
Lifting the balloon up allows baking soda to pour into the bottle. This causes a carbon dioxide gas reaction that makes the balloon inflate.
