Clay Sundial

Learn to tell time based on the position of the sun

Materials

• Air dry clay

• Pencil

• Pebbles

Directions

1. Using a rolling pin, flatten a dough of air dry clay and cut it into a circle.

2. Place a pencil in the center of the flattened clay. Support it with some more clay.

3. Place colorful pebbles on the dial as hour marks on a clock.

4. Place sun dial outside to dry

5. Enjoy! Ask kids to observe how the shadow of the pencil acts as the hour hand of a regular clock
