Water Cycle in a Bag
Explore polymer science with this classic science experiment
Materials
Clear sandwich bag
Sharpie
Blue food coloring
Water
Directions
Use a black Sharpie to draw a sun, cloud and water on the sandwich bag.
Fill a small measuring cup with 1/4 cup of water. Add four couple of drops of blue food coloring.
Pour blue water into the sandwich bag. Seal bag tightly.
Tap the bag to a window and watch it work
What’s Happening
Your munchkins will witness a mini version of the Earth’s water cycle. Warmed by the sunlight, the water will evaporate into vapor. As the vapor cools, it will change back into liquid (condensation). When enough water condenses, it falls down in the form of precipitation.
