Ada Lovelace was a countess and the daughter of poet Lord Byron, but her passion was mathematics. She is often regarded as one of the first computer programmers. She worked with Charles Babbage to create what some consider the first computer, the Analytical Engine.
3 Coding Apps for Kids
codeSpark Academy. Kids learn to code with characters called The Foos. Each world explores a fundamental coding concept that uses logical thinking to accomplish tasks.
Lightbot. Lightbot is a programming puzzle game that uses logic to solve levels. Brief instructions are included at the beginning of each level. One note: the level of challenge ramps up quickly.
Scrarch Jr. ScratchJr allows kids 5-7 to program their own interactive stories and games. In the process, they learn to solve problems, design projects, and express themselves creatively on the computer.
